The musical ensemble Aman Rebetiko, together with Chrysa Papadopoulou on vocals, continues its highly successful performances.
This time, they are coming to Switzerland for three shows in Zurich, Lausanne, and Basel, hosting one of the younger exponents of Kafé Aman music, the talented Yiannis Dionysiou from Cyprus. Alongside them is another Cypriot musician with a significant presence in the musical events of the Mediterranean, the violinist Michalis Kouloumis.
Together, they will take us on a journey with the beauty of their instruments and enchanting voices, exploring the magical sounds of Rebetiko melodies. These melodies originated in the Kafé Aman, the pre-war Greek cafes of the major urban centers of Asia Minor, especially Istanbul and Smyrna, where singers and musicians improvised in free rhythm.
In these Kafé Aman, the intense musical tradition of the Anatolians was born, which, after 1922, moved to the other side of the Aegean, mainly to the port of Piraeus, giving rise to the movement of Rebetiko songs that are still passionately sung by younger Greeks and Cypriots today.
